Our Services

Need to know about a specific service, but don’t know where to start? We would always recommend our Testimonials page, as you may often find a past customer has hired us for a project very similar to the one you are considering, and their views can be hugely helpful on the specifics of our floor sanding and restoration services. Here are several of our main service areas, which we hope will help to provide you with further insight into what is involved in each, and the subtle ways in which they differ.

COMMERCIAL FLOOR SANDING

Commercial floors see a lot of traffic, often including shoppers in heavy boots, and tracked-in rain, snow and even grit. Strip away the blemishes with a simple surface-layer sanding, ready for a fresh coat of finish to be applied for future protection.

FLOOR SANDING

Our most general service, suitable for all manner of timber floors; we simply remove as much of the damaged layer as is required to expose fresh wood, which can then be treated as if it were new, with the same quality of finish as you would expect from a newly laid floor.

PARQUET FLOOR REPAIR

A favourite of schools and public buildings, parquet floors are also relatively common in high-standard private homes and even in some older offices. Wherever yours may be, we can repair damaged tiles, inject resin into chips, and generally bring the whole floor back to a consistent look and feel.

PARQUET FLOOR RESTORATION

More extensively damaged parquet floors need specific restoration work, and that may mean replacing individual tiles with colour-matched new timber. Where possible, we will minimise our intervention work, so smaller repairs might involve slivers of wood rather than complete tile replacement, or even injecting small amounts of resin into cracks. Your floor is left looking as new, and with renewed strength to withstand future footfall as well.

PARQUET FLOOR SANDING

Parquet floors with only minor scuffs and damage can be restored to their former glory quite easily; we simply sand off the dulled varnish and any discoloured surface layer of the tiles themselves, and add a fresh coat of gloss (or the finish of your choice). Complete in a couple of days and ready to be used as soon as the varnish is dry, it’s a no-fuss, no-mess option for floors that are in regular use, and which you cannot afford to have out of action for days on end.

SCHOOL FLOOR SANDING

School floors take a real battering, with children likely to run across them in shoes at any given time. School halls in particular host PE and drama lessons, assemblies and school plays, and may even have dining furniture placed directly on the exposed floor. Sanding can quickly recover scratched or stained floorboards and parquet tiles, ready for the new academic year, and give the next generation of pupils the learning environment they deserve.

WOOD FLOOR FINISHING

We are proud of every job we complete, and of the continued high standards we achieve. See our Before and After Gallery for some of the (in our opinion) best projects we have carried out, and shining examples of floorboard sanding in Bedfordshire’s spectacular homes in LU4, offices and schools in NN29 and SG15. We choose our finishing products carefully so they are eco-friendly, high-performance and aesthetically pleasing.

WOOD FLOOR MAINTENANCE

This is perhaps more of a ‘workhorse’ service than many of our other processes, as regular maintenance is often more about keeping the floor working at its best than simply looking at its best. That does not mean we compromise on the aesthetic outcome, of course, but in many cases your choice of finish might be more about creating grip or protecting the timber against specific types of spillage, and not so concerned with impressing guests with a high-gloss, decorative stain.

WOOD FLOOR POLISHING

Is your floor in need of a little gloss? Our sanding services double as a deep clean, bringing scuffed and dulled floors back to a bright shine. We can add glossy varnish and other such finishing products that are specifically suitable for floors, delivering a highly polished surface that still provides the necessary grip.

WOOD FLOOR REPAIR

One of life’s great tragedies is to see a floor made of beautiful aged timbers, but which has been allowed to fall into a state of disrepair. We are truly passionate about bringing floors back to their best, and there are few more satisfying projects than those that involve decades-old (or even centuries-old) boards into which we are able to breathe new life in spectacular fashion.

WOOD FLOOR RESTORATION

Be kinder to the environment by having your wood floors restored, not replaced. Timber is a versatile and resilient material, and just because the outer layer is showing the evidence of the passing years, it does not mean in any way that the floor is no longer structurally sound. Careful sanding and a fresh coat of stain can have things looking as-new in very little time at all.

WOOD FLOOR STAINING

Again, this is often a routine process, rather than a one-off repair job. Floors throughout Bedfordshire are in need of regular TLC, and we can strip existing finishes and apply new ones for a change of character, or simply to protect the boards as you move into a new home, a new economic cycle or a new academic year.

FINISHES AND SEALS

Frequently less about the look and more about the functionality, seals can help to prevent staining if your floor is the victim of a future spillage. Our finishes are chosen both for their performance and for their visual appeal though, so we’re confident we will have an option to satisfy your tastes.

GAP FILLING: RESIN, SLIVERS & SILICON

Part of our restoration services, gap filling is an important way to make floors consistently even and reduce any trip hazards, or weaknesses that could lead to further splintering or cracking of the boards. Resins and silicon help to bind timbers back together where they are damaged, while slivers can fill larger gaps, before the stain or polish disguises the fact that any work has been carried out on the area.
